Details: An Argentine Tango Show featuring a cast of performers recognized the world over, including a live tango orchestra.

The cast is in Mt Vernon for the weekend Meet in the Middle tango festival, a gathering of social dancers from all over the country. This public showing is offered to demonstrate the Argentine Tango with the many facets it has to offer.

Robert Haulk of Portland OR, is the master of social dancing, together with Barbara Durr of Atlanta, GA, they show the authentic dancing of tango as seen in Buenos Aires, the birthplace of the tango. It's close, smooth, and answers only to the connection and the music.

Robin Thomas of New York City, together with his new partner, Jennifer Olsen, will mesmerize you with their command of this phenomenal dance, the tango. You'll say, "Now, how'd they do that?" Robin will show you, with a free lesson after the show, at the theatre.

Ney Melo and Jennifer Bratt, of NYC, are new partners this year, meshing their skills into a dynamic duo of flying legs and flowing passion you will love. See attached picture of 2005 performance.

Tom and Tonya Smith, now living in Las Vegas, or TNT, are definitely dynamite personalities to watch. They take social tango to that beautiful level and present it to you with all their heart and soul.

Korey Ireland of Kansas City, will be partnering with Mila from Russia, if, her visa comes through...Korey is the director of this special Horseshoe troupe. Together they bring to the stage the tango in all its glory, glamour, and glitz.

The highlight of the evening's performance is the Tango Orchestra, Tango Lorca, of Kansas City. Four pieces including, bass, keyboard, violin, and notably augmented by the presence of New York City's bandoneon virtuoso, Hector Del Curto.

The Bandoneon is the signature instrument of the tango orchestra, the squeeze box played on the lap. Hector is a true master of this instrument with a wealth of experience and accomplishments. In Buenos Aires Hector is widely regarded as one of the best players of his generation, having shared the stage with Pugliese, and Piazzolla, as well as a host of contemporary tango greats. He's also one of the busiest in the industry, currently involved in the Broadway revival of Forever Tango, as well as directing his own ensemble, Eternal Tango, Hector is also an active member of Fernando Otero's X-Tango, Pablo Ziegler's Quintet for the New Tango, Gustavo Moreto's Alas, and Pablo Alsan's Avantango.

In the year 2002 Turnback Creek came to be when musicians, Lola Clark, and Bob McKay had been playing with a couple of groups for a couple of years. They suddenly found themselves with out a leader. Lola and Bob decided to take over and invite guests to play with them each performance to fill out the remaining years bookings. It worked out beautifully, three of the guest Virginia Snyder of Snyder Music Park and Dee Davis of Clever and Bob’s Wife Barbara of Willard became full time members. Since then a fine lead gutarist, Jay Roberts of Springfield has been added and the group finds them selves very much in demand. Lola and Dee and Virginia found that the three of them blended well singing three part harmony and The Turnback Creek Trio was born. This group has many facets and is a joy to watch. The programs can vary from a Bluegrass presentation to a Variety program of Folk Mix to include Southern Gospel and Blues and Country and Bluegrass and marvelous twin fiddle presentations by Lola and Dee and Vocal solos by Dee Davis accompanied with Barb McKay on the Key board. This Variety presentation is very popular for the group, Dee Davis adds a great spark with her comedy pieces. This group is growing in popularity and has logged many shows in and around S.W. Missouri.
